Setup time: ~10-20 minutes depending on experience
You will need a server instance to run the nginx- media streaming software released by Adobe.
You can run nginx in Windows, but these instructions are focused on Ubuntu/Debian/Raspbian servers.
We recommend a Raspberry Pi 2/3 connected to your network via ethernet. It's a pretty cheap solution, and it can run on 5V/1A.
Type these commands into Terminal:
$ sudo apt-get update $ wget http://nginx.org/download/nginx-1.10.3.tar.gz $ wget https://github.com/arut/nginx-rtmp-module/archive/master.zip $ tar -zxvf nginx-1.10.3.tar.gz $ unzip master.zip $ cd nginx-1.10.3 $ ./configure --with-http_ssl_module --add-module=../nginx-rtmp-module-master $ make $ sudo make install
Once the installation has finished, enter:
$ sudo /usr/local/nginx/sbin/nginx
Go to http://[server local IP]/. If you see "Welcome to nginx!", move onto Step 2.
Your application name should be the username you provide when you request your stream page. It must be alphamumeric and limited to 20 characters.
Save changes with Ctrl + O, hit Enter, and then hit Ctrl + X to return to the command line.
You will need to open port 1935 on your router and have it point towards your server.
Further configuration options for nginx.conf are available here.
URL: rtmp://[your public IP]:1935/live
Stream key: test
Click OK, then hit Start Streaming. If you do not receive an error, then the stream is successful.
How to watch your stream
In order to watch and share your stream on uncreate.net, we will need to create your personal page with a video player configured to receive your stream.
You can request your page here. You will need a valid Gmail account to access the form and be a member of the Uncreate Steam group to register.
Your request will be processed within a day.
